As a real estate professional and a native to St. Simons, I am so pleased to be a sponsor of the 2023 Christ Church Tour of Homes for several very meaningful reasons.
As one who consults regularly with a variety of individuals seeking out their forever home or occasional respite, I deeply respect the intentionality of each Tour homeowners' desire to create spaces that reflect their own tastes, personalities, and life experiences. Their homes display each owners' emphasis on sentimentality, appreciation for modern or historic trends and beauty, and most importantly, their pure hearts for hospitality. Their homes seek to serve both family and friends with a warmth and color that reflects who the homeowners themselves were created to be, and their desire to share a bit of their authentic selves with others. The exploration of such diverse displays is truly a joy to all of us who deeply long to connect in fellowship, in our own creative way, with one another.
As a long-time member of the Golden Isles community, I am also grateful to participate in an endeavor that seeks to support many of our local charities and organizations that reach out and reach in to help others in need to experience the love, hands, and charity of Christ in ser-vice and support in varied ways. I give my thanks to those organizations and individuals that sacrificially reflect God's love and goodness to our community, day in and day out.
On a personal note, I am also very pleased that Christ Church is showcasing its rich history as part of the Tour experience. I must first recognize (or else find myself in trouble!) that my wife, Maryellen, and I were married at Christ Church almost 22 years ago. We were drawn there by our family's multi-generational legacy as members and even founders of the church. Since moving back home to St. Simons 13 years ago, we have so enjoyed deepen-ing our understanding and experience of the holy grounds of Christ Church, Fort Frederica, and Wesley UMC.
We pray that the spiritual seeds planted long ago by the Wesley broth-ers Jolin and Charles, along with many local families, thereafter, will be truly revived in our time; and that our children would experience an Awakening like that which occurred here in the Golden Isles centuries ago, that inspired the foundational faith and freedoms ulti-mately achieved in America's Revolution.
I hope that those who participate in the Tour of our area's beautiful homes also experience the uniquely warm and sacred Spirit that exists here in this community; the spirit of the One who draws those who are thirsty to the waters of eternal life, and to Him who is building mansions of many rooms for all those who love and follow Him...Enjoy, in the Tour, a small taste of what is to come.
